inaugural event for women
includes shooting, personal
safety and other topics.

Men are welcome to attend but are ineligible to participate.
This event is designed to accommodate all skill levels from beginners
to experienced shooters. For some women, its a chance to compete
against peers at a similar level; for others, its an opportunity
to learn or improve skills in a comfortable, supportive atmosphere.
The National Womens Weekend will offer competitions in offhand
rifle, pistol, and trap shooting with muzzleloading firearms. All prizes
will be merchandise. Beginners will compete against other beginners.
Anyone, whether experienced or novice, is welcome and encouraged to
attend. Come and see what all the fun is about and save $10 on
the registration fee by signing up early.
The fee for the weekend is $35 for pre-registration, or $45 at the time
of event. Pre-registrations must be received at the NMLRA (P.O. Box
67, Friendship, IN 47021) no later than Tuesday, April 24, to qualify
for the discount. You can also call (812) 667-5131 to sign up using
your credit card. The fee includes registration, targets, seminar attendance,
and camping. (Please note that if you plan to park your camper or RV
in Frontier Heritage Campground an additional fee of $25 per night plus
$5 per extra person applies.)
Food will be available throughout weekend. Participants arriving on
Friday, April 27, are invited to attend an informal get-together.
Two seminars will be presented by certified National Rifle Association
instructors: Refuse to Be a Victim and Firearm Safety in the Home. Refuse
to Be a Victim deals with shopping, Internet, traveling, and many other
aspects of safety.
It does not deal with firearms at all. Firearm Safety in the Home deals
specifically with safe storage of firearms in your home.
A catered dinner is offered on Saturday, April 28, at an additional
charge of $10 per person. Prizes for Saturdays matches will be
awarded at this event. The keynote speaker for the banquet is Angela
Goldman, Indiana Conservation Officer.
A Purdue University graduate with a double major in forest management
and wildlife management, Goldman is experienced in Becoming an Outdoorswoman
and Women in the Outdoors programs, and she has been the director of
a conservation camp for girls. She brings rich perspectives on the involvement
of women in outdoor activities.
