Annual Swiss Wine Festival
to be celebrated in Vevay, Ind.

Parade, grape stomp,
live entertainment among activities

(August 2010) – Named one of “Indiana’s Top Ten Festivals,” the 39th Annual Swiss Wine Festival takes place Aug. 27-29 at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park, located on Ferry St. in Vevay, Ind.

Along with food, arts and crafts, midway rides, fireworks, parades, live entertainment, beer garden. Reservations are being accepted for the festival riverboat cruises.
Riverboat cruises, the affair showcases contests and other events take place throughout the three-day event. Canoe races, corn hole tournaments, cheerleader competitions, steintossen, basketball jamborees, a poker run and a road rally are just a few.
The Swiss Wine Festival parade will take place Saturday, Aug. 28, beginning at 10 a.m. along Main Street. Former Cincinnati news anchor and Switzerland County native Jessica Donnellon will be this year’s grand marshal.
The 2010 edition of the Midwest Championship Grape Stomp also takes place. Individuals will compete and to test their toe-squishing talents against friends and neighbors. Creative grape stomping costumes are welcome, and judging will take place on authenticity and enthusiasm.  The winner of the 2010 Midwest Championship Grape Stomp will receive a prize and all participates become members of the “Order of the Purple Foot.”
The second annual “Media Celebrity Grape Stomp for Charity” will also take place on Aug. 28 at noon featuring media folks from television, radio, print and Internet. They will vie toe-to-toe for a portion of $1750 to be awarded to the Top Three winner’s charities. Nearly 20 media personalities from four states will participate.  
The Wine Pavilion is a Swiss Wine Festival trademark, with many of Indiana’s award-winning wineries offering signature renditions in samples, glass or bottle.  Producers are on hand to “talk wine” and share their fruit of the vine story with others. 
Admission to the Swiss Wine Festival is $3. Children ages 5-12 is $1 per day with ages.
