CARROLLTON, Ky. (July 2018) – For the past seven years, RaceFest has acted as the official pre-race celebration for upcoming NASCAR races at the nearby Kentucky Speedway. This event, organized by Carroll County’s Chamber of Commerce, was begun to encourage people at the Kentucky Speedway to visit downtown Carrollton.
“Once people are at the race track, they’re kind of there all day. We wanted to find a way to bring people in,” said event chair Charlotte Wallace. “It’s a fun lead-up to the races.”
RaceFest is scheduled from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, in downtown Carrollton. This year’s event will feature a VIP Pit Pass that offers certain perks for pass-holders. The Pit Pass includes a barbecue dinner from Butts ’N Racks and a RaceFest T-shirt. The Pass also includes an alcoholic beverage and tasting flight from a distillery in Sparta, Ky.
“Neeley’s Family Distillery is coming to set up and offering a special drink just for RaceFest,” event chair Michelle Mefford said.
The Pit Pass will give holders entrance into the “Pit Area,” which is a tented area of the event where the meal will be provided. Pit Passes are available for $30 each, while larger groups can purchase a table of eight for $200. Pit Pass tickets for individuals under 21 are $15, and tickets for children under 3 are free.
Those who do not purchase a Pit Pass are still welcome to come and enjoy the other festivities offered at RaceFest. Chamber members, local vendors and non-profit organizations will have booths set up throughout the event that will offer food and fun for all attendees.

Tyler Booth will entertain the crowd at the eighth annual Racefest, a pre-race weekend celebration held in downtown Carrollton, Ky.

RaceFest will have inflatables set up for the kids and a pie-eating contest where individuals of all ages can test their skills. The celebration will also have giveaways and prizes for attendees throughout the night.
“We’re bringing our corn hole tournament back this year, and there will be prizes for the winners,” Mefford said. Kentucky Speedway race tickets will also be given away to the best decorated Pit Pass table.
The event also ties into the race theme through its car features. “We’re going to have a Dow simulator car at RaceFest that’s sponsored
by Dow Corning, so we’re pretty excited about that,” Mefford said. “A Dale Earnhardt car from back in his day will also be there.”
RaceFest will also include a concert that includes performances from musical guests Tyler Booth of Wolfe County, Ky., and Jordan Bales of Louisville, Ky. RaceFest will also feature performances by Carrollton-based musicians Dennis Wheeler and Tim Pearson. The Pit Pass will include a meet and greet with Booth, an up-and-coming country artist who released his first EP in September 2017.

For more information, contact the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce at (502) 732-7034. Pit Passes are available from Wallace at Carrollton Office Supply, 113 Fifth St., Carrollton, and Mefford at Mark Smith State Farm office, 1206 Highland Ave, Carrollton.
