H1 Unlimited is expected to join the P1 USA tour for a stop in Houston on Sept. 2-4. It will be the first time Unlimited hydroplanes have raced on Clear Lake since the late 1980s.
“We welcome this opportunity to combine forces with P1 USA at several events here in the United States,” Cole said. “P1 is a fixture internationally and with H1 Unlimited’s growing international following thanks to the race in Doha, Qatar, we believe there are more opportunities to do combined events.”
Midwest Tubes in Madison has agreed to sponsor the P1 USA race program at the Madison Regatta.
Madison Regatta race course to be modifed because of bridge project
Madison Regatta Inc. has been working in tandem with the Milton-Madison Bridge Committee to develop a site plan for the 2011 Lucas Oil Madison Regatta. The impending bridge construction project has made it necessary to relocate and shorten the race course to accommodate the H1 Unlimited Hydroplanes during bridge construction.
The 2011 Lucas Oil Madison Regatta will be held July 1-3 on a two-mile course this year. Current design parameters have turns three and four in line with St. Michael’s Avenue. Turns one and two will line up in the Plum-Vernon Street area.
Madison Regatta president Crystal McHargue said at a recent Madison Regatta meeting that plans continue to move smoothly in preparation for this year’s event.
