Grand Opening

Trilogy’s River Terrace Health Campus opens in Madison amid much fanfare

Nearly 250 turn out to mark the occasion,
tour new facility

(March 2016) – Trilogy Health Services on Feb. 18 opened its $15 million River Terrace Health Campus to an audience of nearly 250 people. It is located in a building close to the hearts of many, the former King’s Daughters’ Hospital at 120 Presbyterian Ave. in downtown Madison. Trilogy bought the building in January 2013 for $1 after KDH was finishing construction on its new hospital on the Madison hilltop.
Since River Terrace is Trilogy’s 100th senior care facility, the event was a special occasion. Trilogy celebrated with an Open House, ribbon-cutting, good food and tours.

Madison Area Chamber of Commerce members and city officials help celebrate the grand opening of River Terrace Health Campus on Feb. 18 in Madison, Ind.

Randall Bufford, Trilogy’s president and Chief Executive Officer of Trilogy, addressed the crowd, clustered in the reception area of the facility. He thanked the many people and firms involved in this team approach. It preserves a downtown building, gives it new life as senior care facility, and brings 100 new jobs to town.
“It is only fitting that our 100th campus opening is being celebrated in this historic Madison, Indiana location,” Bufford said. “Since we acquired this building, we have looked forward to offering our Trilogy approach to care in a resort environment, and with River Terrace we have achieved that goal. From staff engagement and our focus on customer satisfaction, to the local flavors on our menus, and even the names given to our different residential hallways – everything at a Trilogy campus is focused on our customers’ preferences and helping them have strong social connections, engagement and purpose, while also providing care options for all levels of health care.”

Madison Mayor Damon Welch welcomed all “to the Madison Hilton Hotel,” adding, “somewhere in this footprint I was born. The state-of-the-art River Terrace Health Campus will meet a wide range of our senior community’s housing and health care needs. We are blessed to have River Terrace in our community, and we welcome you with open arms.”
The new medical director, Dr. Stanley Totten, said, “There is so much medical history in this building. For it to have a medical future again is overwhelming to me.”
Carol Dozier, Chief Executive Office of King’s Daughters’ Hospital, Brittan Mefford, executive director of the health campus, and other Trilogy and KDH officials also spoke. A large group gathered outside for an enthusiastic ribbon cutting.
“This outcome is absolutely gorgeous,” said Gary Joy, vice president of new campus development. In particular, he described how the work of local artists was incorporated into the facility. Trilogy spent $10,000 on the local arts’ project, accomplished through unique venture with the Madison Area Arts Alliance (see related story, Page 6).
Trilogy completely renovated the four-story building, transforming operating rooms and resident rooms into private apartments and private suites, with common areas for residents and their guests to enjoy. River Terrace offers a full continuum of senior health and hospitality services, including independent living, assisted living, short-term rehabilitation and long-term care These services are coupled with amenities such as a theater and game room, Internet lounges, sitting rooms with fireplaces, chef-prepared meals, and services specially tailored to meet residents’ individual preferences.
Trilogy Health Services operates 100 senior living communities in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan.
